CyberSKA Portal Release Notes - v1.3.2 - October 14, 2011

Below is a summary of the latest CyberSKA portal release (v1.3.2) on October 14, 2011. We also include release notes for the CyberSKA portal release (v1.3.1) on August 26, 2011 which were not published yet.

Prominent in the latest release is added support for upload, recognition and visualization of measurement set images in addition to FITS images. Mime types for FITS and measurement set (CASA) images as well as UVFITS and measurement set visibility data are now supported and automatically recognized by the portal. Measurement sets can be uploaded as .tar or .tar.gz files. Thumbnails are generated for images and visibility data can be identified by the "UVW" icon on the site. Headers for these four data types are also extracted as part of the data ingestion process and are displayed in the file view on the portal. Both FITS and CASA images can be visualized using the client side and server side based image viewers via the "View Image" and "View Movie" buttons respectively. Users can select to browse just image files or visibility files when in the file view by selecting the "Image Data" and "Visibility Data" links in the left sidebar menu. Mime types for all existing files on the site have also been reevaluted with associated headers and thumbnails generated. Note that headers and thumbnails will not appear immediately after upload of a file, but will appear after the ingestion process, that extracts the header and generates the thumbnail for that file, is complete.

Some new collaboration features have also been added in the last two releases. These include various bug fixes, the ability to send messages to multiple contacts and/or contact lists (previously the messaging tool only supported sending to one contact), repression of activity feed messages when a user modifies a page multiple times in a short time period and support for multiple group administrators. A group owner can add new group admins by going to the group member list (via the "View more members" link in the sidebar menu), mousing over the bottom right hand corner of the members photo, clicking on the down arrow and then selecting "Add group admin". Group admins will then show up in a box above Group members in the sidebar menu of the main group page. Group admins can also invite new members to the group and approve memberships. The group owner can also allow group admins to appoint other members to be group admins by selecting the appropriate setting via the "Edit group settings" sidebar menu item.
